Austin Mural Guide
It’s here, it’s here, it’s here! Yes, we are giddy with excitement to bring you our Austin Mural Guide – the most comprehensive guide you’ll find anywhere to Austin’s most colorful and vibrant walls.
A little background… As you may know, our wall guides have become our cornerstone resources around here. When we were considering where to take our colorful explorations next, Austin made perfect sense! The city is certainly a colorful art-loving city. Plus, in some ways, Austin is a second home to me. Not only did I go to college there (hook em!), but even now I journey back to Austin about once a month for a mix of business and personal and college of engineering work.
We have been working long and hard on our Austin Mural Guide. In fact, this has been a work in progress for almost two years. We’ve taken multiple road trips back and forth from Houston to Austin to curate all these images and locations and such for you.
So, it is with great pleasure that we are publishing this today for your enjoying! This guide is filled with over 80 of Austin’s most vibrant, colorful murals. Yes, that’s right – over 80! 84, to be exact. And we plan to update this continually as the city’s mural scene evolves and changes.
Now, here’s what you can expect from our mural guide… Along with photos of each mural, you’ll find the exact address, the artist’s information (where available) and any important pieces of information about the mural. As well, you’ll find a map at the bottom so you can easily locate each one. Note that we are always keen to credit the artists who create these beautiful public works of art. If you know who to credit for any that are missing artist credit, please let us know.
We hope you enjoy this guide as much as we’ve enjoyed putting it together for you. Please share and pass along to any of your color loving friends!

I wish you had given the artists credit for their work. You may be sued if you profit from their art without their legal consent and compensation.

Hi there, Marjorie –
Crediting artists is of utmost importance to us, as you can see in this guide and all of our other mural guides. As noted in the introduction, “Note that we are always keen to credit the artists who create these beautiful public works of art. If you know who to credit for any that are missing artist credit, please let us know.”
In the case of Austin, there were in fact quite a few murals for which we were unable to track down artists. We first of course look at the mural itself for artist annotation, then we reach out to the businesses where applicable, and next we also do additional research online. Some in Austin were found to be commercial projects funded by the businesses, in which they said artist credit wasn’t applicable. They instead just wanted us to make note of their business.
If there are any murals for which you know artist info that we don’t have noted, please let us know! We are so grateful and appreciative of the art that these artists bring to our cities. We want more people to be able to enjoy it! I have not profited from this, but rather gone to great expense to travel to Austin multiple times in an attempt to visit and document all of these walls.
Hope you enjoy! Thanks for chiming in.
Best,
Carrie
You know you’re amazing and these guides give me life in the towns you’ve canvassed. Thank you so much for doing this for us all. Sadly, #48 is also covered over with tagging. But I’ve have the best couple days, even in the rain, finding 40+ walls from this list. Thanks again, lovely lady.
Ah, thanks so much for saying that, Kelly! Glad you have enjoyed them! More to come! 😀
Great compilation! For #62, I think it’s referencing The Doors song, “People Are Strange.”
Ah yes, of course! That makes sense. Thanks for enlightening us. 🙂
Awesome! Thanks for sharing our guide. Glad you liked it.
These are a great collection. I was hoping to see the beautiful horse mural on S. Conress, though, and one or two others.
Oh, I’m not sure if I’m familiar with the horse mural! Given us any leads on additional murals or colorful walls you know about. We’d love to check them out and add.
Thanks so much for sharing our mural guide!
I went searching for the “All you Knit is Love” mural but the store has moved locations and I’m not sure if the new store has the mural! Google maps isn’t showing it yet, if they do.
Hmmm… Thanks for letting us know. By nature of street art, it is always changing for sure! We will look into it.
Ah, thanks so much for sharing our Austin mural guide! I’ve been wanting to attend your conference, by the way. 😀
I’m not sure by the comment if you really don’t know the reference, but when you’re strange is a line from a famous “Doors” song.
Yeah, I got it. 🙂
Thanks for stopping by!
Thanks so much for sharing!

Hot damn that’s an incredible list! I can’t wait to check out as many as possible when I’m in Austin next week. Thanks so much for taking the time to put it together!
Hey Ella – you bet! Thanks for the kind words. Such a fun art scene in Austin.
Omg what a collection you have here! Thank you for sharing. Can’t wait to be in Austin next week!
Oh good! I’m so glad you like it.
You are the absolute sweetest! Love you guys.
Love all the walls and addresses I might go to then one day!!!
You’d enjoy it, Ally! Thank you.
Thanks so much for including our mural guide!
You missed my favorite one, on the side of the building at 9327 Burnet.
http://murallove.blogspot.com/2011/02/all-around-austin-exotic-pets-burnet.html
It has faded since that photo was taken, and it is on a building that is close to The Domain and that has been empty for years, so it is probably at high risk of being destroyed (ie as soon as the property owner gets a high enough offer and a new development goes in).
Oh I’ll have to check it out!
I was just at Kneaded Pleasures in the same building as a large post office. There was a stunning mural the full length of the building. I was actually searching to find out its history. Didn’t see it listed here.
OMG!!! This is exactly what I was looking for! How fun! I can’t wait to go exploring, Your AWESOME!! Thank you so very much for putting this together!
Oh great! I hope you enjoy it.
Thanks so much for sharing!
Thanks for sharing, friend! Xo
Thank you for this, we had fun going to a few! Unfortunately #6, the Hello wall, is no longer there.
Thanks for letting us know. The nature of street art is that it’s always changing! Glad you had fun. 🙂
