Now, the mural guide contains details on over 100 of Houston’s most colorful walls!

Yep – this update to the guide contains another 20 brand new walls for you to explore! Plus, we’ve added updated notes to other walls for changes that we are aware of.

Planning a trip to Houston specifically to see these murals. My husband and I love seeing the bright colors and creativity. This guide is excellent! In regards to other cities, we just visited Wynwood Walls in Miami and enjoyed it very much. We have a wonderful event here in Detroit every autumn called Murals in the Market in our Eastern Market area downtown. Our art community is thriving 🙂 thank you for creating this guide! Xo

    1. Oh how wonderful! Wynwood is amazing. I had no idea about Detroit though. That’s awesome.

BTW did you know we have a beautiful coffee table book of all the Houston murals? If you come here, maybe it would make a nice souvenir. 🙂

  8. Frida Dillenbeck says:

A dear friend gifted me your latest mural book for Valentine’s Day. In 2016 a group of four friends made a mad dash afternoon through Houston taking pictures at about 20 mural spots. I’m sure many of them are no longer available for viewing such as the Andy Warhol, the dinosaurs, life is a dance so keep dancing, Frida as WonderWoman. Finding many of these gems is a really fun way to spend a day or afternoon running around Houston. Thank you for putting this evergreen site together as well as publishing such a wonderfully fun Houston Mural Book!! Thank you for making Houston more fun!

  9. Frida – thank you for the wonderfully kind and uplifting comment! You certainly made me smile. Thanks again. Have a great day and enjoy our city.

  10. Catheryn says:

I miss the interactive google map you had linked to the page with pins of all the mural locations. It made finding murals close to my location at a given time so easy. You should bring that back!

    1. Oh goodness – thanks for bringing that to our attention! I was going to point out to you that it’s at the bottom of the post, but it doesn’t seem to be working right now. We will look into it! Stay tuned. 🙂

  15. Tammi Ogletree says:

This is so helpful! I’m taking my daughter with a photographer to have her 16th birthday pictures taken in Houston. Just for reference, the Sugar and Cloth wall in no longer there? Also, if she has a hot pink cocktail dress, which wall do you suggest would be the best for pictures?

    1. Oh how wonderful! If you post any online, tag us! We’d love to see!

    2. Oh and to answer your questions…

The original Sugar & Cloth wall isn’t there anymore. There is a new one that is relatively similar – it’s wall 68.

Hmmm… hot pink dress: I’d recommend with Wall 1, Wall 2, Wall 82, Wall 90… those would be a few top recommendations for you!

  16. Shawna says:

This was the ABSOLUTE BEST having this list at out fingertips this morning when I took my daughter to go take photos. We plan on hitting more in the next few weeks for fun!!
We did find a few in the heights that are no longer there if you want to update your list, #19 You are my sunshine, #80 Typography wall, and #71 Houston Strong @ Discovery Green. These have either been painted over or taken down.

Thank you so much for taking your time compiling these for everyone to enjoy!!!

    1. Oh this makes me so happy! So glad you had fun using it. 😀

    2. Oh and thanks for the notes. Yes, we are probably due for a big update. We will make note on those.

  17. Shawna Allen says:

Sorry, my mistake, the sunshine wall (#19) is still there… we just didn’t look behind the building as you had noted…

We had so many friends fall in love with the background walls, that we had to share your site with them!
Again, thank you for all of your work with this and sharing these “golden eggs” within Houston!

    1. Okay – good! I thought it was still there! I saw it a few weeks ago.

More importantly, thank you a million for sharing! Have a great weekend.

  18. This isn’t so much a mural, but they have a cute painting outside of the parking garage at Rice Village. It’s ILY in American Sign Language. It’s really cute and I saw it there around St. Patty’s day!

    1. Oh thanks for letting us know, Danelle! Not sure if I’ve seen that one yet. Will have to check it out.

  19. Cam says:

    Thanks for sharing…

  20. Thank you so much for putting this together! My friend and I put together a tour visiting our favorites from this list, and we spent yesterday afternoon doing Part 1.

    We successfully found 7,12, 28, 29, 42, 46, 77, 82, 86, and 88.

#27 – The Polka Dot Wall is now “Lotus.”

#38 – We had to skip this one, but I also looked on Instagram and it seems that it was painted over 2 days ago.

#67 – We tried to find Lavender Flowers and Number, but we’re pretty sure it got torn down. We found construction where my map said it’s be.

This was so much fun, thank you again!

    1. Awesome! Thanks for letting us know you used it – and thanks for the updates! We will be sure to check out the walls and update our guide accordingly.

    1. Thanks so much for sharing our guide!

  21. Dana DiMarco says:

I’m glad you enjoyed the mural guide. Thanks so much for saying so.

  22. This is such wonderful list! Thank you so much!

    1. Thank you for your kind words, Kelli!

I knew about the Sugar and Cloth wall and stairs being gone now. But the I am love wall?! That one was so good and so new.

WOW what a terrific list. There are a few wonderful walls I believe may be missing from the list (I was extremely fortunate to have been on a tour given by the amazing Gonzo 247 himself during the HUE mural festival this year). The wall painted outside St Arnold’s Brewery at Maury and Lyons (possibly by Emily Ding?) is MASTERFUL. And there are several others in the same area that are equally fun. Sure hope they are all still there! It’s a pity that these get painted over so often. BTW apparently there is a VOTE Beto wall in EADO as well. Regards and Thanks again.

    1. Hey there – thanks for commenting! So glad you enjoyed the guide.

And yes certainly there are some we need to add. You’re right – the scene is always evolving! It’s great to have new ones, but somewhat sad to lose ones we like.

Excellent guide! Is there any way you could PM me a hi-res shot of #30, the Love wall from the old Heights Post Office? I will not publish it, it is for my own personal use. I have lived in the Heights for over 20 years, but was away for a short time for a work project and had no idea the building would be torn down while I was gone! Never got a pic of it.

    Thanks!!

Hi, #4 (Lawndale Art Center) is an art installation that gets replaced every year-ish or so. You can find more info on Lawndale’s website!

    1. Yes indeed! Thanks for the note.

Hi Carrie! The “map” feature at the bottom of the page isn’t working for me. Was going to try to modify some bike routes we take to pass these fun murals, so any guidance on using it would be very helpful!

    1. Hi Amanda! Great idea. Hmmm – let me take a look.

  31. Nina de Britto says:

Is the new sugar and cloth color wall still around? I’m reading some people say it’s closed. I was hoping to take pictures there this weekend.

    1. No unfortunately it’s no longer there. We will make that update.

  32. Claire says:

This is so awesome! I’ve seen many of these but there are def many that i’ve never seen too. Great guide, I love detailed posts like this.

    1. Thanks so much, Claire! I’m glad you enjoyed it. We will continually update it.

Since there is a break in the rain for a few hours, I am headed out to take some shots of these this morning. Hoping the rain holds off for a few hours Saturday morning to get senior photos with my son. Thanks for the fantastic guide, Carrie. Even a transplant can follow it 🙂

    1. Hey Colleen – this made me so happy! Thanks for taking the time to comment. And stay dry! 🙂

  34. Celina says:

Thank you for the amazing guide as well as a map.
Westheimer has an amazing Florence and the Machine along with many tv cartoon characters, right by the pavement as well.

    1. Yes yes! The Florence one is on our guide, but not the cartoon characters. Perhaps we should add that one!

Thanks so much for the kind words!

You wouldn’t happen to have a list of all the addresses for the Wall Art would you? I would like to make it a day trip tour with my mom.

    1. Well, yes all the addresses are listed here, plus there’s a google map at the bottom. Hope that helps! Have fun.

I wish these were on a document or listed together. It would make it easier to sort them by zip code.

    1. They are on a map at the bottom. But thank you for the suggestion. We are always looking for ways to improve our mural guide.

  41. Lauren says:
