With spring starting, I’m already feeling the pull towards a perennial closet staple : the shirt dress. The classic shirt dress may be one of the most versatile and easy-to-wear pieces. A shirt dress can effortlessly take you from the office to a casual day of activities to even a night out.

The feel of a shirt dress depends completely on how it’s styled. Here are a few tips for styling your shirtdress this spring.

1. For an office appropriate look, throw on a blazer and some classic pumps.
2. For a casual day time look, opt for flats or sneakers. You might even consider wearing it un-belted for an even more easy-going look.
3. For a smart day time look or even a night out, cinch the waist and put on some strappy heels, as I’ve done here. If another layer is needed for chilly evenings, a leather jacket can provide both warmth and a cool edge.
