When Your Shoes Do All the Talking

Happy Monday to you all! We are back today with a wonderfully fun look for you…

“It’s Unreal” by Adela Andea

First things first, though… If you’re an art and color lover like we are, you are probably dying to know more about this ridiculously, wonderfully colorful art installation. Well, you’re in luck, because we have all the details!

Giving credit where credit is due, we have to thank Wear + Where + Well reader Cayla Welsh for tipping us off to this colorful creation. Knowing how “on brand” this would be for us, Cayla sent me a message about it. Of course, I replied in about 0.2 seconds and asked where I could find this colorful goodness!

Well, interestingly enough, this art installation is currently located on the ground floor of a downtown Houston office building – 1201 Louisiana, to be exact – which happens to be the office building in which I worked for 12 years! So, I was all too familiar with the location.

Dubbed “It’s Unreal” by Adela Andea, the art is very much a sensory experience. Through the use of LED lights and various technology related materials, Andea creates a feast for the eyes and the mind!

Insider tip: I know parking downtown can be a bit of a headache sometimes. But right behind this office building (on the south side), there is plenty of parking. It is a pay-to-park lot, but it’s worth it for the convenience. Then, just walk around to the side of the building and enter freely anytime between 8 am and 6 pm. Arts Brookfield will have this on display until September 8.

You can find more details here.

So, Houstonians: run, don’t walk, to go see this uniquely wonderful exhibit!

The Fun, Colorful Side of Luxury Fashion

Now, on to the outfit…

This will come as no surprise – Nordstrom is one of my favorite online shopping destinations, as it probably is for you. Nordstrom is always full of great deals and a great selection. But there is something you may not know… Did you know that they have such an incredible designer assortment? This entire luxe look, from head to toe, came from Nordstrom, including these Fendi heels. While we all love to mix and match high and low price points, sometimes it is fun to splurge on a special piece – particularly when it’s something you know you’ll wear time and time again, like shoes and handbags and versatile clothing pieces.

As for this look, it most definitely embodies the fun and colorful side of luxury. Sometimes luxury can be thought of as stiff, uptight, and conservative. Not in these parts! Who says that needs to be the case? We love to add color, as you know, into everything we do and wear, and this outfit is certainly no exception. From the rainbow sweater to the bold purple skirt, bright red bag, and of course, the pom pom heels, it’s a playful and luxurious outfit.

Other Designer Items We Love From Nordstrom

With fall right around the corner, brand new items are coming in everyday, and there are so many beautiful pieces making me extra excited for the season ahead. Don’t let the fall season dull your color palette!

One More Thing

Do you believe designer fashion can be fun and colorful? Who is your favorite designer that embraces this notion? If you do splurge on something, what would it typically be? We would love to hear in the comments below. We hope you had a great weekend, and see you back here tomorrow!

    HI Carrie,
What eye candy! Cool that this art display was in your old office building 🙂
When I do splurge on something, it usually is in a traditional colour and for an investment piece (for a bag, shoes for work, coat, etc).

    Have a happy Monday,

    Sheri
