Color Confidence: Blush Pink
As you may have noticed, wearing color is a signature of my style. As such, I thought it would be fun to talk more about color and how to wear it. I hope you enjoy this new feature.
Though I tend to wear vibrant colors that really make an outfit pop, blush pink is really winning me over this season. This subdued hue brings a softer, ethereal, even romantic feel to a look. The color is oh-so-delicate but somehow feels infinitely more wearable than stark white.
While blush pink is universally flattering, it still can be a bit tricky to wear. The main issue to be aware of is that the color can read as quite juvenile. So, the trick is to keep the hue feeling grown up, sophisticated, and elegant. Here are 5 tips for wearing blush pink.
5 Tips for Wearing Blush Pink
1. Use texture to tone down the sweetness.
This is the main technique I employed with my look. The clean-lined windowpane pattern of my Tibi dress slices up the sugary feeling of the frock. In addition, the suede and metal details of the Chloe “Faye” bag elevate the pink piece to ultra sophisticated territory.
2. Provide some contrast to the pale pink.
In my case, I chose a chunky, strappy shoe with floral detailing to provide some visual contrast to the otherwise pretty pink look.
Bonus tip: if you want to wear blush pink to work, be sure to pair it with something heavy, like a gray blazer or navy pinstripe trousers. If not, you risk the tone coming across as bare, thus rendering it office inappropriate.
3. Look for pieces with a modern cut or shape.
4. Avoid pearls and other precious accessories.
5. Add animal print to make the look edgy.

i cannot get over those shoes. you wear themso well with so many different types of outfits! for me, the key to this color is to skew light and cool in terms of shade of color. anything too deep or warm makes me, personally, look ruddy. for work i pair a blush blouse with black or charcoal and often accessorize with oxblood.
Fabulous advice! Thanks for the additional tips, Jessica. I especially love the oxblood idea.
And that cool ring, where does it come from?
Hi Laney – thanks for the reminder! I forgot to link to it. It’s by Jennifer Fisher. You can find it here:

Carrie, I’m officially in love with this outfit! And your tips are on point, as always. I feel like it’s always so difficult to resist the temptation to wear blush pink (and pastels in general) with pearls, but they do indeed make the whole look very predictable.
That means so much coming from you, Anastasia!
Yes, one has to be careful with these pastels of (1) not looking too juvenile, or (2) not looking too predictable. We have to keep it interesting!
so pretty- love those shoes!! xxo
