Plaid. Gingham. Buffalo check.
All are great patterns for fall. All exude that cozy, casual feel that we long for in fall.
Today, let’s focus on buffalo check.
What exactly is buffalo check, you might ask? Think of it as a larger version of gingham. Gingham, as you probably know, is a checkered pattern with even-sized checks. It’s formed by thin horizontal and vertical stripes overlapping one another. Increase those checkered patterns, and you have buffalo check (also called buffalo plaid). Buffalo check often comes in red and black or blue and black colorways.
Why is it called buffalo check? If you’ll notice, the pattern looks a lot like a tartan print. As legend goes, a descendant from the MacGregor Clan of Scotland settled in Montana in the 1800s. Apparently he traded buffalo pelts with the Native Americans in exchange for heavy Scottish blankets in his family’s tartan pattern. Thus, the term buffalo check was coined.
In any event, the print seems to embody the feel of fall. Whether we want to curl up with a blanket and a book by the fireplace indoors or roast s’mores by the campfire outdoors, these laid back prints seem to fit the bill.

Thanks for continuing to stop by!
My apologies for not updating the site for a while. Traveling for about ten days straight (in Europe and then in the US) has left me somewhat behind. But many great things are coming as a result.
Plus, be sure to check out the Wear + Where + Well boutique. I’m so inspired by all the fall offerings currently available that I’m constantly updating the shop with my picks for the season.
Thanks as always for your continued support.
