The Designer : Elena Ghisellini

Do you remember this radiant rainbow clutch I carried in Milano during fashion week? Good news: her Fall/Winter 2015 collection is now available for pre-order on Moda Operandi!

But before we get to that, let me share a more about my love for Elena Ghisellini bags. I sang her praises some in this post, but allow me to share more…

While you may not immediately recognize her name, you are definitely familiar with her handbags. After discovering her love for high-quality leathers as a child, Ghisellini spent many years at some of the top luxury design houses. She left a strong imprint at Ferragamo, where she spent twelve years, and at Givenchy, where she spent nine years. In fact, some of the most well-known Givenchy bags including the Nightingale and Antigona were designed by Ghisellini. She is currently head accessory designer for Emilio Pucci. On top of all of that, her eponymous line has really gained some serious traction with a devoted following.

The bags first caught my eye last fall when I saw this bag in her Spring / Summer 2015 presentation. Of course, if you know my affinity for colors, it was initially the rainbow color palette that drew me in. However, there is so much more to these bags than just what immediately caught my eye. The quality of craftsmanship and materials is second to none. The luxurious leathers are buttery soft.

Her bags are for the elegant yet strong woman. Ghisellini seeks to amplify magnify a woman’s femininity, strength, and personality through her designs. She somehow manages to successfully marry a refined and timeless look with a modern and edgy twist. Her signature design in her eponymous line is the Felina (as seen above) which resembles the face of a cat. As Ghisellini said to the New York Post, “I believe a lot in my product… It is important to have a product that you immediately recognize. I do not want to be commercial, I want to be unique.”

I too believe in her product and instantly recognize her beautiful unique designs!

I don’t necessarily like the shoes of the model, they’re not quite my style but the handbag is brilliant. I love it!

Ha – well the “model” is me. But that’s okay – we all have different tarted. 🙂

I hadn’t heard of this designer until you profiled her Carrie. I really love the look, especially the tan coloured satchel for the fall collection.
