The Scenario:

Ah, New York Fashion Week (NYFW) : the much anticipated semi-annual unveiling of designers’ collections on the runway happened last week in frigid NYC. In some ways, though, just as anticipated as the runway is the parade of street style looks. Seeing what all the editors, models, buyers, and fashion insiders are wearing is so inspiring!

There are always many photographers outside the various show venues to capture the scene. But this year especially, I applaud the multitudes of street style photographers who braved the cold to capture the sartorial selections of those coming and going from the shows. These particular action photos were all captured by the talented Kamel Lahmadi of Style & the City as I was entering and leaving Lincoln Center.

The Look:

My NYFW experience this time consisted of two quick trips up to NYC from Houston. I was present for shows on Saturday the 14th, Sunday the 15th, Wednesday the 18th, and Thursday the 19th. Deadlines in Houston for my engineering day job beckoned me back for a couple of days in between. That meant a lot of back and forth and packing and unpacking, but at least I was chalking up more frequent flyer miles! Ha.

NYFW is always a fun experience. But the problem with fashion week in February is that it is always so brutally cold! So, while one would love to wear all the new spring attire hitting stores, function wins over form when it is this cold. Believe it or not, this day (my first day of NYFW) was actually the warmest day I experienced, even though this day held snow flurries!

So, I bundled up in a Rick Owens leather jacket (a great investment piece), along with a Derk Lam turtleneck, a Mary Katrantzou midi skirt, as well as Saint Laurent suede knee boots – plus plenty of layers underneath as well! You can shop the exact look and other similar pieces below…

I’d love to hear your thoughts, plus I’d be happy to answer any questions you have on the NYFW experience.

All the best,

Carrie

You look great in all of the photos. I’m curious…is it difficult to get tickets/invitations to these events?

    2. Carrie says:

      Thank you, Sheri!

It’s all by invitation only… So, it’s mainly people who are in the business – editors, buyers, stylists, celebrities, bloggers, etc. Sometimes personal connections help as well, as with many things in life. 🙂
