The Designer: Caroline Constas
Happy Monday, my friends! Where oh where did the weekend go? Nevertheless, I’m ready to take on a new week. I hope you are too!
Today, I’d like to reiterate my admiration for designer Caroline Constas. If you’ve been around here for any length of time, you may have noticed me wearing and touting Caroline Constas’ designs in the past. I last featured one of her tops just last week in this article about off-the-shoulder tops. And I first featured her back in August 2015 in this article.
My love for the Greek-Canadian designer has only grown since then! Constas does shirting (particularly off-the-shoulder shirting) with a twist like no one else. Whether in the form of a top or a dress, I simply can’t get enough of this signature style of hers.
From a business perspective, other young designers would be wise to take a business lesson from her. She saw a niche in the market for really high-quality statement shirting, and she filled that niche. She hasn’t tried to do everything at once, overextending herself and her company. But she has been laser focused on one well-defined niche and filled it remarkably! Her statement-making shirting pieces are well-made, high-quality, and sensibly priced, making them the go-to pieces for the fashion set this summer.
Constas is very much inspired by her travels. This travel inspiration developed naturally at a young age. She first started sketching fashion designs at age eight while on a plane flying from Canada to Greece to visit her family in the summertime. Once she arrived in Greece, her grandmother would help her turn those sketches into reality. Those experiences set her on the path she finds herself today – creating unique, standout pieces for today’s woman.
