A Letter to Elle at Five Months

Oh sweet Elle Belle,

Five months together! Can you believe it?

Where do I start? Well, I know where I’ll start. I’ll start with this overarching yet simple statement..

At five months old, you are joy personified!

Truly, I’ve never seen joy exhibited so vividly, so clearly, and so consistently day in and day out. Your joy is contagious! Those around you can’t help but catch your joy. My prayer is that you always bring as much joy to the world as you do today. Never lose that joy, my sweet girl.

At five months old, you are learning new things daily! And I take such delight in watching you learn new skills. Your pride in yourself is rivaled only by my pride in you! May you never stop learning, my sweet girl.

At five months old, you are growing like crazy! Though I’m not sure of your exact weight this month (no doctor’s appointment), I do have other solid evidence of your growth: your rolls. That’s right – you have developed the chubbiest, chunkiest legs in the past month! Heck – even your knees have rolls. I didn’t even know that was possible! But boy do I love it. I hope you continue to keep growing physically. And never stop growing mentally, spiritually, and emotionally, as well, my sweet girl.

At five months old, you are so determined. You can now roll over like a champ and you sit up on your own sometimes. In fact, we caught your very first time to sit up unassisted in these photos! Yep this special moment was caught on camera. Plus, you are so very close to crawling. As you attempt to crawl, you grunt and grunt as you give it all your effort. You squirm and squirm, moving your arms and legs until you are exhausted. I have a feeling this type of drive will take you far in life. You can accomplish anything you set your mind to. Never lose your determination, sweet girl.

At five months old, you are the coolest baby ever. At least in my eyes! You roll with the punches. You sleep through the night. You are calm. You are sweet. You are cute.

And at five months old, you are so very loved, my sweet girl. Please know that nothing or no one will ever come between us. Please know I am always here for you. Please know that you are now and always my top priority. Simply put, you are the love of my life. And that will never change. I am honored to be your mommy.
