Our Christmas Card 2018

Wishing you and yours a merry Christmas!

Our Christmas Card

Merry Christmas, my friends!

Given that the big day is upon us, I thought I’d share our holiday card with you… Hopefully, all mailed cards have arrived safely at their destinations, so that I’m not spoiling the snail mail for anyone!

Once again this year, I chose to use Minted for my holiday cards. I didn’t ask them to sponsor or even comp my cards. I just truly love all the options they have and the great customer service which they provide.

Confession time: I used them last year for my Christmas cards as well, but never actually mailed the cards! I’m hanging my head in shame, as last year’s cards doubled as holiday greetings and Elle’s tardy birth announcement. But sadly they never graced the inside of anyone’s mailbox, which is a shame because they were really cute!

This year, I was bound and determined to right the wrongs of last year’s Christmas card failure. So, I ordered my cards early(ish) – i.e., early November. I thought I’d be ahead of the game. But alas, the process took so long! Making a list, gathering addresses, addressing the envelopes, stuffing the envelopes, sealing the envelopes, putting the stamps on, mailing the cards — this Christmas card thing is a big ordeal!

All that notwithstanding, I am feeling very accomplished to have mailed cards this year!

Christmas Card 2018

For this year’s card, I chose perhaps the most colorful design of all at Minted. We didn’t take any special Christmas photos per se, so I particularly loved the way this template allowed for multiple photos. That was a win in my book, because how was I supposed to pick only one photo of Elle? Too much cuteness to be confined to only one photo! Plus, I appreciated how this card left room to pen a brief note and include even more photos on the back.

As for the message of our card, here’s a snippet…

Elle is now 18 months old, and she is joy personified! She is a sweet, funny, brave, adventurous little girl. I’m so lucky to be her mommy.

We are so blessed by your friendship and love. Sending you much love, peace, and joy this holiday season!

Our Christmas Wish for You

As for my wish for you, it goes a little something like this:

May you know deep within your soul that joy does not come from things; joy comes from within us!

May you know the joy, hope, love, and light of this holiday season. May you let it transform your soul each and every day of the year.

May you know that the God of Christmas wants you to have an abundant life.

May you find meaning within the mess of life.

On that note: If you are experiencing a blue Christmas, I understand! I get you. It’s okay to not be okay.

The holidays put so much pressure on us to seem like we have it all together. But the truth is that the holidays can basically shine a light on whatever is missing from our lives — whether that be a loved one who has passed on, a failed relationship, or any other type of loss.

Just remember that while everyday might not be good, there is indeed good in every day. So cling to that. Seek out that good. And live with a grateful heart.

A Question & In Closing

Do you enjoy receiving Christmas cards as much as I do? It’s one of my biggest joys of the season! I just love getting the mail, opening the mail, and seeing the faces of those we love. Do you have any fun, creative ideas for displaying and / or preserving the Christmas cards you receive each year? If so, I’d love to hear!

For now, though, go enjoy the holiday with your loved ones! Set down your phone and live in the moment. Soak it up. We don’t get these precious moments back! So enjoy the here and now – and grace your family with your presence. That will mean more than any present under the tree!
