Our drink of the summer.

This Watermelon Martini is Everything You Want in a Poolside Drink

Written by Julie Weinstein

Happy Tuesday! I hope you’re soaking up the summer sun wherever you live. It already seems like the season is going to fly considering it’s already almost 4th of July!

Hanging out poolside is certainly one of my favorite summer pastimes. Jumping in and out of the water while getting lots of Vitamin D and sipping on something refreshing is pretty much a little slice of heaven in my book.

And when it comes to a poolside beverage, you want something not only refreshing, but also one that takes advantage of the fruits that are currently in season. And bonus if you put your drink into cute cups like you see in these photos.

Watermelon Martini

Carrie’s all time favorite drink is a watermelon martini, and she drinks it poolside every summer! We were thrilled when we found these Draper James watermelon tumblers, pitcher, plates, and snack bowls, and knew we immediately needed to get Carrie’s recipe and put these items to use. And guess what? It’s super simple to make.

Watermelon Martini

Instructions

To make the watermelon puree, combine the watermelon and simple syrup or agave nectar with a small amount of ice in a blender to puree consistency.

Combine one part watermelon puree and one part vodka.

Pour into chilled glasses. A martini glass works great if you’re indoors; although we opted for these safe-for-outdoors watermelon cups for our poolside happy hour.

Garnish with chilled fresh fruit as desired.

  • 1/4 cup of simple syrup or agave nectar (or, as desired for a little bit of sweetness)
  • Vodka
  • Ice

In Closing

I wasn’t kidding when I said this was a simple recipe! It’s so easy and the perfect drink for any day spent at the pool. It would be great to make for 4th of July, too. And the watermelon tumblers are just too cute, right? If you do end up making this, be sure to let us know. Have a great rest of your Tuesday!
