May Letter from the Editor

Carrie's monthly letter.

May Letter from the Editor

Happy Monday, y’all! Yeah, yeah – I know it’s not actually May yet, but it will be tomorrow! Can you believe that? So, I’m jumping the gun a little to share my monthly letter from the editor.

Around Here Lately

Let’s start with what’s been going on with me lately, shall we? Here are some April highlights:

– My baby turned 10 months old!

– I turned 41 years old.

– Our rockstar college intern (aka – kid sister, as she’s known around here) turned 21. Happy birthday, Alex!

– Maritere and I made a quick trip to Los Angeles to celebrate the opening of Happy Place – stay tuned for more on that!

– We shot some other awesome colorful content we can’t wait to share with you! Side note: LA has some amazing walls.

– And we are making summer travel plans. Any places you think we should visit? We’d love to hear your ideas!

What You Loved in April

In last month’s letter, I shared with you the top ten posts from the previous month — what you all loved! That was fun to compile. A data-driven glimpse into what you guys like around here! So, I thought we’d do it again this month.

(Side note: I feel a bit like David Letterman with his top ten lists – haha)

1 – Austin Mural Guide : You all LOVED the Austin mural guide! And rightfully so, in my humble opinion! If your travels take you to Austin, be sure to check it out, along with our guide to the South Congress area of Austin.

2 – How to Put a Delicious Twist on Your Next Game Night – Scrabble. Tile. Cookies. Enough said.

3 – Motherhood Moments : Insights for Moms at Every Stage with Lindsay Teague Moreno – I’m so thrilled you all loved the interview with Lindsay Teague Moreno! Isn’t she such an inspiration? A hugely successful business woman and momma who keeps it real. Gotta love it.

4 – The 23 Best Travel Instagram Accounts – This was a follow-up to our guide to the most colorful Instagram accounts. It seems as if you all love both color and travel as much as we do!

5 – 9 Newborn Essentials for the Modern Mom – I’m sure glad this one was popular with you guys, because (1) it was a long time coming, and (2) it was a labor of love – no pun intended. I put a lot of time, thought, effort, and energy into this guide for new moms. I truly hope it’s helpful.

6 – Rhode Resort Floral Print Smocked Dress – We had the same favorite look of the month!

7 – 6 Steps to the Most Colorful Avocado Themed Party – You guys – Cinco de Mayo is this week. Go check out this party idea. You definitely will want to build your own guacamole bar for Cinco de Mayo or really anytime this summer.

8 – A Letter to Elle at 10 Months – Writing these monthly letters has become a cherished tradition. I love her so much.

9 – 30 Creative Ways to Wear a Rainbow of Florals – Rainbows. Florals. Springtime. What’s not to love?

10 – Milly Hibiscus Print Fit and Flare Dress in Austin, Texas – I’m glad you all liked this look! Milly is killing it this season.

What’s Coming Up in May

Here are a few things I’m excited about in May on CarrieColbert.com…

First, I’m debuting a business series! At long last, I’m putting pen to paper, so to speak, and bringing you my thoughts on being a businesswoman. This will be rooted in my almost twenty years of experience in the corporate world, along with what I’ve learned running this business, as well as what I’ve learned about investing. Now, I have some definite ideas to kick off the series, but I’d love to hear your thoughts…

What business topics would you like for me to cover?

Secondly, we have lots of fun, happy, creative content coming your way! Some of the highlights:

– a continuation of our Motherhood Moments series

– debuting a special something from our time in LA

– a review of Happy Place

– getting you ready for the Royal Wedding!

– a new Houston guide

– plans for my baby’s first birthday party! (gasp)

– and so much more!

Thank You

And, as always, thank you so very much for coming to CarrieColbert.com. Whether you visit daily, weekly, or monthly, we truly appreciate it. We’re so thrilled to create this colorful space for all of you.

We hope you have a wonderful week!
