Friday Favorite Finds: Merlot
Written by Hannah Lyons
The weekend is almost here, and I’m ready to enjoy sweater weather and some college football! Given that it’s midterm season for most of us college students, I can speak on behalf of us all that the fall break can’t come soon enough.
Nevertheless, there is one subject that never fails to make me happy, and that is fashion.
Fall 2016 Color Story – Merlot
On that subject, we continue with our Fall 2016 Color Story. If you’ll recall, we’ve covered the following fall shades:
And today’s hue of choice is merlot.
Merlot, marsala, burgundy, maroon. In essence, the color is a deep purplish red. Whatever you want to call it, this hue is perfect for fall. Interestingly, these merlot shades share the same blue undertones as berry, burgundy, and plum. This makes the hues very similar and easy to mix when wearing! If you’re shy of loud colors, try something mildly basic. Combine berry hues with contrasting colors like black and white. The three colors work beautifully together!
Did you know? The color’s name is derived from the pigment of merlot wine? We can all get on board with red wine. Am I right?
On a side note, speaking of this shade… Did you have a chance to check out Carrie’s recent post on getting this season’s trends at huge discounts? Carrie sports some gorgeous berry-hued favorites and shares her top 24 pics for wearing ripe berry.
