Your Guide to the Best Murals in Minneapolis
We are so incredibly excited to bring you the next in our mural guide series, and today it’s all about the great city of Minneapolis, Minnesota. In this guide, you’ll find 34 of the most vibrant and colorful Minnesota wall murals, plus a Minneapolis mural map!
In case you aren’t familiar yet with our mural guides, they have become our cornerstone resources on CarrieColbert.com. They are by far the most popular series on our site, and for good reason! These guides are full of all the information you need to locate the best walls in the city.
We believe in the power of color and the power of art. Street art is having a huge moment in this country. And we believe that’s because these walls are bringing us together. They’re free and accessible to most everyone to enjoy.
What you’ll find below is a list of 36 of the best graffiti in Minneapolis and St. Paul, along with the addresses of the murals parking information, lighting tips, and any other information we think is pertinent to your wall scouting. As well, you’ll find a handy map to help you easily locate each one.
As a general note, most of these murals are located in parking lots with easy access. If you want to visit several of them in the same day we recommend hiring an Uber driver to drive you around (you can easily change locations on the Uber app upon arriving to one location).
As well, most murals are located within three different areas of Minneapolis so you can map them to visit the ones that are close by to each other in an hour or less, depending on how many pictures you want to take at each.
Now let’s get into it. We hope you enjoy this Minneapolis mural guide as much as we enjoyed putting it together! As always, we’d love for you to share with any of your friends who appreciate colorful walls and street art.
Wall 1: Graphic Colors Valspar Corporation
Address: 1101 S 3rd St, Minneapolis, MN 55415
Note: Unfortunately, access to this beautiful wall is is obstructed by a gated private parking lot. So, you’ll be unable to get super close to the wall, but it’s still worth stopping by to admire the colors.
Wall 2: Sherwin-Williams Management Office colorful wall
Address: 1101 S 3rd St, Minneapolis, MN 55415
Note: This colorful graphic wall goes along the back side of the Sherwin-Williams management office, near the loading and unloading dock.
Wall 3: Sign Language Mural on Periscope Advertising Agency building
Address: 921 S Washington Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55415
Note: This one is elevated on an office building — i.e., not at ground level. So, while you can definitely get a photo of it, you shouldn’t expect to be able to pose by the wall.
Wall 4: First Avenue Stars Mural
701 N 1st Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55403
Note: This is an iconic Minneapolis wall! Wrapping around the corner of a building, this wall pays homage to musicians many of whom are local. Be sure to check out Prince’s gold star!
Wall 5: Take a Picture Vintage Car Mural
Address: 928 Hennepin Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55403
Note: This is a fun one that’s tucked around the side of a building. It doesn’t face the main street, but rather an interior parking lot.
Wall 7: Faces and Positivity Mural (Harbor Light Shelter)
Address: 1010 Currie Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55403
Note: This mural with a beautiful message is located at a shelter. Perhaps consider making a donation to help those in need.
Wall 8: Come In She Said Mural (Harbor Light Shelter)
Address: 1010 Currie Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55403
Note: This wall is also located at the same shelter. Consider making a donation to assist the services of the shelter.
Wall 9: Orange Flower (Harbor Light Shelter)
Address: 1010 Currie Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55403
Note: This wall is adjacent to wall 8. In fact, it’s more of a continuation. Once again, we urge you to consider aiding the mission of this shelter.
Wall 11: I Like You Mural and Store
Address: 501 1st Ave NE #1, Minneapolis, MN 55413
Note: The I Like You store is simply adorable! A treasure trove of local goods. Be sure to go shop after you take your photo with their colorful wall!
Wall 12: Greetings From Minneapolis Mural
Address: 555 1st Ave NE, Minneapolis, MN 55413
Note: We always love a good “Greetings from…” wall! We try to find one in every city we visit. This one sure captures the spirit of Minneapolis.
Wall 20: Polka Dot Wall
Address: 504 Robert St N, St Paul, MN 55101
Note: This is the one St. Paul wall that made the cut for our guide. But don’t miss it! It’s definitely worth the extra effort to drive over there, as this wall is huge. You can tell the scale of the wall by referencing me for size.
Wall 23: Shine and Rise Murals
Artist: Lulu Danzig
Address: 4310 Nicollet Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55409
Note: This typographic mural is actually a pair of separate walls. Both are just stunning! The type treatment and color selections are both wonderful.
Wall 28: Colors, Music, and Flowers Mural
Address: 1422 W Lake St, Minneapolis, MN 55408
Note: This wall is quite large with different sections – all quite vibrant and beautiful in nature. Note that this is in an alleyway behind a grocery store.
Wall 31: Gray Chevron Mural
Address: 2909 Bryant Ave S #101, Minneapolis, MN 55408
Note: We were looking forward to seeing this gray chevron wall, but lo and behold when we arrived, the wall was obscured by this construction equipment. But that’s just the nature of street art. You win some and you lose some! The mural art scene is ever-changing and always evolving.
Wall 32: Minneapolis College of Art and Design Multiple Graphic Murals
Address: 146 E 26th St, Minneapolis, MN 55404
Note: The art found on this college campus is unique! You definitely don’t want to miss this intricate series.
Wall 34: Chanhassen Prince Mural
Address: 600 Market St #270, Chanhassen, MN 55317
Note: This is close to Prince’s studio, near Paisley Park. This wall is epic. Do not miss it if you are a Prince fan!

Hello,
Do we have to get permission/permit any where to take pics.
thanks
Stephen
Hi there – While I can’t answer that definitively, in general, street art is accessible to the public! Usually, you are free to take photos as you wish! Hope that helps.
Kansas City and Nashville!
Thank you, Mallory! Those are high on my list.
Thanks for this! I’m visiting minneapolis this weekend and your guide was super helpful.
Come visit Eureka, CA…we also have street art and murals. 🙂
Oh wonderful! I hope you enjoy.
And yes I definitely need to do so.
Thank you for helping people discover street art, can you group them on a map so people can do walking, biking tours of different parts ot town? Also, there were several new murals done last summer in St. Paul as part of Chrome Zone. I could take photos and send to you. I have been taking my college niece on mural hunts and she loves it. any chance you could do Chicago?
Hi Carrie we just got back from our trip to Fargo and Minneapolis. I was curious if you still had most of these amazing pictures that you took and if you wouldn’t mind sharing them with me. I love the orange flower that is by the harbor lights shelter and also the rise and shine. Do you by chance have those without a person in the picture? I will definitely give you the credit for the picture! Hoping to add to our collection of beautiful sights
I have a huge van I need someone creative and talented to do a rolling mural. Graffiti artist okay.
