Wednesday Words of Wisdom

It's all about gratitude.

written by Julie Weinstein

Well, guys, believe it or not, Thanksgiving is tomorrow! What?! When on earth did that happen? I don’t know about you, but for us, the past few months have all blended into one and have flown by at the speed of light. And I have to say I’m looking very forward to just relaxing tomorrow. I plan to completely disconnect (ok, maybe not completely) and spend time catching up with my family and squeezing my little nephews tight (with a lot of Chardonnay thrown in there for good measure).

On Gratitude

For a while now, gratitude journals have been all the rage. And for good reason. I cannot say I write in a gratitude journal daily because that would be a big ol’ fat lie, but I do write in one from time to time, and I have to say it is, in fact, as powerful as they are made out to be.

It’s one thing to say you’re grateful, but to feel it is entirely different. And when you write it down, it helps to implant it in your mind and to help you to really feel it.

And a grateful heart is one of the keys to a happy and joyful life. When you feel gratitude for who is in your life and what you have, it makes all the difference in the world.

Oftentimes it can be thought about that once you’re happy and everything is going your way that you’ll then feel the gratitude. But the reverse is actually true.

When you’re grateful, even when everything might not be going your way, that is when you’ll feel the joy.

Because life isn’t perfect, and you might be having a crappy day, but there is always something to be thankful for, even if it’s the tiniest thing. Find that one thing and feel the gratitude. Feel it deep within your core.

Thanksgiving

And what better time to practice gratitude than this time of year? With Thanksgiving tomorrow and the rest of the holidays coming up soon after, followed by the start of a new year, take some time to think about what it is you’re grateful for. And it can be anything. It’s not about what others are grateful for; it’s about what you are grateful for.

So, tomorrow, take an extra minute or two to feel the gratitude. And below, some of us are going to share a few of the things we’re grateful for this year, and we’d love for you to share what you’re grateful for in the comments if you’d like.

What We’re Grateful For

Carrie : I’m grateful for Elle, the love of my life. She’s brought me more joy than I’ve ever known.

Julie : I’m grateful for my family and getting to spend time with them over the Thanksgiving holiday, my friends far and near, my health, my job, and laughter. Well, and wine, of course.

Ashley : I’m grateful that this season of hurricane mess and cleanup is behind me.

Mari : I’m most grateful for my family, for true friends, for the little things in life which truly are the biggest. These are the things that are really worth it in life. This is what life is worth living for.

Alex : I am grateful that my friends and family are so supportive. Not only are they supportive, but they push me to follow my dreams and they make me a better person. I’m also extremely grateful for my health.

Holly : I’m grateful for the family and friends who support me, the opportunities that guide me, and the work that I get to do every day.

Marla : I’m grateful for my family and my two pups.

And, with that, we wish you the happiest Thanksgiving. We’re grateful for all of you each and everyday. We’ll see you back here Friday!
