One Dress Two Ways

Happy Monday, friends. First, thank you for all your well wishes as we celebrated 40 here last week with fashion, food, and more. Indeed, my heart is full after a week bursting with love and friendship. Second, today, I want to share with you two ways I styled this wonderfully versatile, great quality shift sweater dress from Ann Taylor.

Look 1 : Polished Professional

As I mentioned in this random facts post, I sit on the engineering advisory board at UT. Once a semester, we have meetings on campus in Austin. Well, it turns out the spring meetings are later this week. As I started thinking about what to wear to the meetings, it dawned on me that I didn’t really have a lot of “corporate” professional looking outfits that fit at this point in my pregnancy. So, I stopped by my local Ann Taylor to try some things on, as shopping online has gotten a bit more tricky as my body continues to change.

When I stumbled on this dress, I knew I found a winner! Not only does it have a hint of UT’s school colors, but the dress is a total bargain given how nice the construction of it is. Indeed, this dress is of the highest quality – a nice thick, structured sweater material.

For my engineering meetings, I’ll style it in a fashion similar to this — with nude closed toe heels and a nude bag. Furthermore, I’ll probably throw on a blazer as well. That not only will add to the polished look, but also keep me warm in a typically cool conference room.

Look 2 : Sporty Casual

One thing I loved about this dress is that I immediately knew it would be versatile. While my aim was to find something professional looking, I actually succeeded in finding a multipurpose dress. How fun is this dress paired with my floral sneakers (last seen here) and my new favorite circle wicker bag?

Truth be told, this casual styling will probably be worn the most this spring, as I look for comfy, practical options for the everyday routine.
