Friday Favorite Finds: Teal

Written by Hannah Lyons

Welcome back to another edition of Friday Favorite Finds, where we’re talking about everyone’s favorite greenish blue hue, TEAL!

Yes, the weekend is finally here and I can officially take a break from midterms and group projects. In fact, both have preoccupied most of my hours. C’est la vie. Oh well, that’s life. So, it’s no shock that I’m ready for the weekend and the fall festivities that follow!

On another note, let’s converse on color once again. I’m eager to share my thoughts on the gorgeous and seasonal hue we’ve chosen for you all.

Let’s talk about teal today!

Fall 2016 Color Story: Teal

But before we visit on today’s color, let’s review our Fall 2016 Color Story. From August to October, we’ve covered the following fall shades:

  1. Neutrals
  2. Pinks
  3. Leopard
  4. Olive
  5. Burnt Orange
  6. Merlot

Today, we’re changing it up and adding a hue of blue and a hint of green with the color teal. Once fall arrives, we’re quick to decorate our homes with warm tones of red, yellow, and brown. But rarely do you hear someone add peacock to that list…

However, you’d be surprised that according to fashion gurus and color connoisseurs, teal is, in fact, a designated fall color. If you don’t believe us, take it from the color experts themselves. Pantone says blues (and not the sad kind) top the list of fall color trends.

With its richness and versatility, the color teal has become an autumn classic as it continues to show up on the runway and in stores year after year.

Pairing Peacock: Mixing Colors for The Perfect Match

If you’re wondering how to wear this greenish blue shade, wonder no more! Here are our best tips and tricks.

First, because the color is a blend of blue, green, and gray, it’s easy to match it with other similar colors.

Furthermore, the blues and greens in the color make it perfect for pairing with complementary autumnal tones like burgundy and orange. Or, in the case that you don’t favor mixing colors, teal also contrasts well with neutral shades of white, like ivory and creme.

+Bonus Tip: Take note – if you’re having trouble with an outfit ensemble, try dressing monochromatic. Match items of similar shades of teal and then add an accessory of a different color to bring it all together. Don’t worry! For the most part, blue-greens don’t exactly have to match.
