6 Fall 2018 Trends You Can Wear Right Now

Your cheat sheet to fall fashion

Fall 2018 Trends You Can Wear Now

I’m going to share an opinion that’s contrary to popular opinion: fall is not my favorite fashion season. I know, I know… Many of you love the layers and textures and cozy nature of fall fashion. I, however, tend to enjoy the vibrant colors and effortless dresses of spring and summer more. Besides that, the weather here in Houston doesn’t really usher in fall for two or three more months.

All that notwithstanding, I actually am excited for fall this year! For personal reasons, I’m ready to usher in a fresh season. And for fashion reasons, I’m ready to try some fresh trends! I’m clicking “add to cart” a lot these days. Of course, it goes without saying, but let it be known that around here we will still be embracing bold, happy colors – even in the season known for lots of neutrals.

Now, are you ready to turn the page and start a new fashion chapter with us? If so, good news! We’ve done the research for you. Here are the top six fall trends we suggest you start embracing now!

So, consider this your cheat sheet to fall fashion!

Animal Prints

Animal prints have always been one of the most classic, timeless, and chic prints out there. And we’re thrilled to see it in such a big way this upcoming season. Whether you wear an animal print dress with otherwise neutral accessories or a coat over a neutral outfit or even simply animal print shoes and accessories, there are so many options.

Bold Stripes

You certainly know by now how much we love stripes, specifically colorful stripes. So we were thrilled to see bold and beautiful stripes all over the runways. There are tons of striped pieces out there, including thick, thin, horizontal, vertical, and diagonal. So many good choices!

Matching Sets

We recently spoke all about matching sets – why we love them and how to wear them. A matching set is such an efficient way to dress, and it doesn’t hurt that said sets are the definition of sophisticated cool. You can wear them by way of a pant suit, a skirt and top, or pants and a top, and they come in all sorts of colors, prints, and patterns.

Print Mixing

What is cooler than print mixing? We adore mixing prints for so many reasons. It can be seen as slightly unexpected and downright cool (and fun!). Of course, you need to know how to print mix. Two of the main keys to think about include sticking with a similar scale and connecting with color.

Sequins

More sequins, please! Nothing screams party or celebration more than sequins, but you certainly don’t (and shouldn’t!) reserve your sequins just for nighttime and special occasions. Wear your sparkly pieces daytime or night, and you’ll bring the party no matter where you are.

Western Inspired

Western inspired doesn’t solely mean cowboy boots and tons of fringe. While nothing is wrong with either of those things, we’re really looking forward to the pieces that subtly nod to the wild, wild west. Whether that means wearing plaid with your denim or a denim jacket with a bit of a ruffle flare, turns out we don’t have to wait until next year for the rodeo.

Now, we’d love to hear – what trends are you most excited for this coming season? Please let us know in the comments below!

We hope you’ll use this as your cheat sheet all season long!

Have a great day.

That striped J Crew sweater is really cute. I can’t say I’ve got my eye on too many trends…I tend to stick to the classics, but it is fun to see what is out there 🙂

    1. Totally agree! I think it’s fun to find ways to incorporate trends in subtle ways or classic ways.
